Why Are ICT's Important For Your Child's Learning?

ICT's are a major component of student’s personal lives which results in the need for teachers to incorporate these ICT's in the classroom in order to gain students attention, interest and enthusiasm.

Year 3H consists of 30 students, 14 boys and 16 girls, and is located in a state school in South Brisbane. There are diverse learning abilities and development needs in this class which need to be catered for.

Many students struggle with the subject of mathematics as it is often seen as:

  • Boring;

  • Irrelevant; and

  • A hard subject.

Incorporating ICT’s, such as the classroom computers, interactive whiteboards and IPads available to year 3H, can change student’s perception of mathematics and make learning mathematics:

  • Fun;

  • Appropriate; and

  • Encouragingly challenging.

The main reasons to incorporate ICT's in your child’s classroom are to enhance their learning through:

  • Making learning mathematics fun and interactive;

  • Multiple Mediums; and

  • Allowing for differentiated learning programs to support varied learning styles and academic levels.

Each of these reasons will be explained in the website tabs.
